For Christmas in 2018, Channel 5
took us on a journey home with a short film called "A Journey
Home" in aid of Channel 5's festive fundraising telethon "Help the
Animals". As with the regular idents, there is no "5" logo in the
idents, though there are hints to 5 things (the theme of the "A
Journey Home" is reuniting five baubles).
The five idents broadcast for a period of days in order (i.e.
ident 1 was shown from 1 December 2018 until 5 December when ident
2 took over). Each ident was a section of the full "A Journey
Home" film so that the five idents tell the full story.
After the final ident debuted on 15 December, the full film was
also occasionally shown. Break bumpers during the festive period
featured the "5" logo and scenes from each ident, which were also
the endings for the trailers. Regular, non-festive idents were
used to introduced the news and break bumpers were used in advert
breaks during the news were also the regular, non-festive, Channel
5 break bumpers.
The fifth and final ident, broadcast from 15 December. Bauble dismounts the cat (or maybe is dismounted) and stands in front of the mighty Christmas Tree, when he is suddenly picked up and placed on the tree, with his four bauble friends. In the final scene we see the five baubles and the three creature friends, robin, spider and cat.
